How to Share a Public Press Kit as a Zip Link
Zip your already-public press assets (logos, credited photos, press release, and a README) into one archive, upload it in the browser, and share the resulting link from your own press page. Recipients need no account to download it.

What goes in the archive
Keep a press kit to material you have already published or are happy to make public:

README.txtThe README should state usage permissions, photo credits, and a press contact address in plain text. Use dated or versioned file names like press-release-2026-09.pdf so recipients can tell which version they have. Never include credentials, private business documents, customer exports, or embargoed announcements: anyone with the link can access and forward the files.
Zip the folder
- On Windows, right-click the folder, choose Show more options if it appears, then Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder, per Microsoft's zip guide.
- On a Mac, Control-click the folder in Finder and choose Compress, which creates a zip named after that folder, per Apple's guide.
Zipping bundles the files; it does not guarantee a smaller archive, since JPEGs are already compressed.
Upload and share
- Open the Yoink uploader, choose Select Files or drag the zip onto the page, and start the upload with the main upload button.
- Wait for the upload to complete, then copy the link from the completed result. It will start with
https://files.yoink.zip/. - Paste the link on your own current press page. Guest uploads work, so no sign-in is needed, and signing in would not make the file private either way.
Putting the link on a page you control matters because Yoink has no in-place update feature. When the kit changes, upload a new zip and swap the URL on your press page, instead of asking journalists to hunt for a new link.
A journalist clicking the link can download the archive without an account. If one key image matters most (say, the hero product shot), upload it separately too and offer that direct image URL alongside the zip for quick embedding.
Checks and limits
- Before publishing, open the link in a private browser window to confirm it downloads and the zip expands correctly.
- Public link lifetime is not guaranteed, so keep your master archive locally and version durable press materials in a repository or controlled asset hosting. See limits and retention.
- Double-check licenses and credits on every photo before bundling, especially contributor or contractor work.
